What is the UEILC?

The University Energy Institute Leadership Collaborative (UEILC) is a first-of-its-kind partnership of U.S. university-based energy institutes formed to address the critical challenges facing America’s energy systems. Partners include over 150 energy institutes and a network of energy experts from around the world working together to inspire meaningful research, engage scholarship, inform regional and national policy, impact decision-making, and re-imagine energy education to be ready to create the future of energy systems.

Who can join?

All energy-focused institutes or centers that are based at 4-year college or graduate degree-granting universities in the U.S. (states and territories). Individual research groups are not eligible.

How to join

Complete the online application form (coming soon). The application will be reviewed to ensure eligibility. There are no application fees, membership fees or dues.

How to participate

If your application is approved, your energy institute will become an official member of the UEILC, and we will list your institute in the UEILC Partners directory.

There are numerous ways that you can participate in the UEILC and engage with this community throughout the year. These activities are optional.

  • First, you will be invited to add the names of institute leadership, staff, and key faculty representatives to our listserv, so that your team receives news and opportunities from the network. You will also be able to send messages to other UEILC members via the listserv.

  • You will be invited to join members-only webinars (generally 2 per year) that are focused on highly relevant topics for academic energy institute leadership teams.

  • You will be eligible to participate in our podcast (coming soon) to share energy research from your institute and affiliated faculty with the broader public.

  • Finally, we sponsor an annual two-day summit - usually in the fall - that brings together energy institute leaders from across the country. While attendance is optional, it is a wonderful opportunity to network and connect with peers.
